The Diacletion (sp?) Castle Promenade View!
This is a great pic of the Diacletion Castle which is now the main center of the town of Split. The tower you see in the picture is the one I took pictures from which you will see later one. The Promenade of the city is located just in front of this along the water! |

Huge Priest Statue Dwarfing Me!
In WWII this statue was cut in 4 pieces and hidden in the Adriatic from the Germans. Although all the residents of Split knew where it was hidden, no one ever told the Germans where it was. It is made of pure bronze and rubbing its Toe is said to bring good luck! |

Sphinx Guardian!
I learned later that this Sphinx was a gift from the Egyptians to Diacletion. The funny part is that the Egyptian servants that delievered the gift were enslaved by Diacletion upon delivery of the Sphinx LoL! Nice guy! |
